Shelter House is dedicated to serving families and survivors of domestic violence in Fairfax County, operating Artemis House an emergency shelter for those fleeing abuse. Recognizing the importance of empowerment and healing through design, we partner with Shelter House to provide DIY workshops and monthly support groups for Artemis House residents. These programs allow survivors to engage in creative, hands-on projects that promote self-expression, confidence, and a sense of ownership.
Doorways provides comprehensive support services and safe housing for survivors of domestic violence in Arlington, VA, helping individuals and families rebuild their lives after crisis. To further their mission of long-term stability for survivors, BTB collaborates with Doorways to connect eligible individuals with our Moving It Forward program. This initiative provides survivors transitioning into permanent housing with personalized home design support, ensuring their new space reflects safety, comfort, and empowerment.
Carpenter’s Shelter supports those experiencing and at risk of homelessness by providing shelter, housing placement, and guidance to help achieve independence. To further their mission, we partnered with them to launch our Inaugural Shelter Makeover Program, transforming over 2,000 square feet of common spaces in their 64-bed shelter. The project included new flooring, fresh paint, and all-new furniture for both residents and staff. Through trauma-informed design, we created a welcoming, functional, and dignified space where individuals can rebuild their lives.
